A pediatric dental practice with offices in Seneca, Clemson, and Powdersville, South Carolina is notifying more than 55,000 patients after a cyberattack exposed files holding children’s personal and medical information. Issaqueena Pediatric Dentistry said outside experts confirmed the intrusion, and its review, completed around July 1, 2026, found protected health information may have been accessed or acquired. The disclosure reached the South Carolina attorney general’s office on September 3.
The practice said affected records could include names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, financial account information, medical treatment details, and health insurance data. It arranged for Epiq to provide 12 months of free credit monitoring and set up a dedicated phone line for families.
Children’s records carry a longer risk horizon than adult data. Thieves can use a minor’s Social Security number and birth date for synthetic identity fraud that often goes unnoticed until the child applies for credit or a job years later. The practice said it has implemented security enhancements since the incident.
Families who believe their children were affected should enroll in the offered monitoring, review explanation of benefits statements for claims they did not file, and consider fraud alerts. Parents should also stay alert for phishing that references the practice or the incident.
