A ransomware crew that has spent the past month working through diagnostics and life-sciences companies has claimed a multispecialty physician group in New Jersey.
Metaencryptor listed Hudson MD Group of West Orange on its dark web site on September 21, according to the ransomware.live tracker. The group was founded in 2019 and runs a network of outpatient practices and care centers across the state, covering primary and internal medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, nephrology and urology under a shared administrative structure.
The listing published no data volume, and the crew did not describe what it claims to hold. Hudson MD Group has not commented publicly.
The claim fits a pattern. Metaencryptor listed German drug importer MPA Pharma in late August, diagnostics maker Hologic on September 10, and Beckman Coulter, the Danaher-owned clinical laboratory instruments business, on September 17. Those businesses supply hospital labs, which puts care providers in the blast radius whenever a supplier in that chain is compromised.
Physician groups of Hudson’s shape are a favorite target because one administrative platform concentrates scheduling, billing and clinical records for dozens of practices. Attackers who reach the shared layer get a single entry point and many downstream victims.
Organizations should treat lab and diagnostics vendor exposure as their own. Ask suppliers about their current incident history, confirm which of your data sits in their systems, and rehearse the notification path you would use if a vendor could not tell you.
