Class members in two separate healthcare data breach lawsuits are close to receiving settlement benefits after judges scheduled final approval hearings in both cases.
Omni Healthcare Financial Holdings and its units Omni Healthcare Financial and Injury Finance agreed to resolve litigation tied to a January 2024 network intrusion that exposed the protected health information of 16,852 individuals. The company mailed about 42,000 notification letters in April 2025, roughly 15 months after the intrusion was detected. Class members can claim three years of medical data monitoring and medical identity theft services, plus reimbursement of documented losses up to $5,000 or a flat $40 cash payment. The final approval hearing is set for August 13, with a September 3 claims deadline.
Western Montana Clinic, a Missoula medical group practice, settled a suit over a spring 2025 email environment compromise. Investigators found unauthorized access to employee mailboxes between March 11 and April 15, 2025, affecting the protected health information of 8,255 individuals, with 9,506 affected in total. Class members can claim a one-year medical data monitoring membership, up to three hours of lost time at $20 per hour, and reimbursement of out-of-pocket losses up to $5,000. The objection deadline is August 17 and claims close September 15.
Both lawsuits alleged the organizations failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity safeguards and violated HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule standards. The defendants deny wrongdoing in each case.
